Recommendations for De-Icing/Anti-Icing of Aircraft on the Ground

The AEA De-Icing/Anti-Icing working group has released its 31th edition of the Recommendations for De-Icing/Anti-Icing of Aircraft on the Ground in July 2016.

The AEA deicing recommendations Annex A (ed 31) on Holdover times (HOT) is based on the FAA HOT tables from August 2016. On Sept. 30, 2016 the FAA adjusted their HOT tables by an addendum. Since the AEA will not adjust their HOT tables, please refer to FAA for information.

 

The purpose is to

  • promote and develop safe practices, effective procedures and improved technology related to aeroplane ground operations in winter conditions to ensure the highest possible levels of safety for passengers, flight crew and ground personnel
  • Develop a set of commonly agreed recommended practices and procedures for the de-icing/anti-icing of aeroplanes on the ground, to reflect current industry best practices.
