AEA's Code of Conduct
In order to meet its objectives, AEA has 3 main functions:
* It informs its members on relevant EU political developments;
* It co-ordinates lobbying and communication efforts,
* It provides market intelligence and analysis.
All of these functions are carried out for the benefit of all of AEA’s members and cannot aim to further one or more AEA members’ competitive status. In this sense AEA’s activities are similar to the approximately 3,000 interest groups present in Brussels today.
The European Community has set up a single market which now includes airlines. Under this single market, a level playing field must be safeguarded and the conditions under which competition can thrive must be crystal clear. EU competition law, monitored by the European Commission, explicitly forbids for instance agreements or concerted practices between undertakings which would have the object or effect to restrict competition.
AEA has published competition law Guidelines in order to ensure that AEA’s activities and discussions between members of the Association will continue to be conducted in compliance with applicable competition law. AEA’s Secretariat and its members agree that they shall adhere to these Guidelines at all times.
